Straight answers.
Sage isn't open yet, so these answers describe our plans. They'll be updated with exact fees, limits and terms before launch.
Getting started
When will Sage open?
We're targeting a controlled launch in Abuja, starting with a limited group. Join early access and we'll tell you first. We won't launch any feature that isn't ready.
What do I need to open an account?
For personal accounts, expect to verify your phone number, confirm your identity with your BVN or NIN, and in some cases take a selfie. Business accounts need additional documents such as registration details and information on owners and operators.
How long does it take?
We're designing personal onboarding to take under five minutes for eligible, lower-risk applicants. Business and enhanced-check cases take longer, and you'll always see your status and next step.
Do I have to visit a branch?
Not for most people. Assisted or in-person verification is available where it's required or helpful.
Money & products
What are your fees and interest rates?
They'll be published, in full, before launch. Our rule: every fee and timeline is shown before you confirm any transaction, and nothing can be charged that isn't in the approved terms.
What kinds of saving will there be?
Flexible Save (instant access) and Target Save (a goal with a date) come first, followed by Fixed/Locked Save. The rate or return basis, minimums, fees and withdrawal treatment are disclosed before you fund any product.
Can I get a loan?
Credit is introduced in controlled pilots: a capped salary-linked advance for eligible personal customers and working-capital for eligible businesses. We check affordability and show every repayment date. Broad unsecured consumer lending isn't planned.
Can I invest through Sage?
We plan a narrow shelf of partner-provided, regulated products. Sage provides the access layer; the licensed partner manufactures, holds and values the product. We don't give advice or promise returns, and investments can lose value.
Will there be USSD banking?
It's planned, so you can use core features from any phone without data. It isn't part of the first release, and we'll announce it when it's ready.
Can I pay by QR or set up direct debit?
Both are planned. Scan-to-pay and QR collections are for customers and businesses; direct debit always needs your explicit consent, and you'll be able to see and cancel each mandate.
Will you support crypto or foreign-currency accounts?
Not at launch. Cryptocurrency and multi-currency features aren't part of our plan today.
Safety & support
Will Sage ever ask for my PIN or OTP?
Never. No one at Sage, no agent and no partner will ask for your PIN, password, OTP or biometrics. If someone does, it's a scam — end the contact and report it to hello@sagemfb.com.
What if a transaction goes wrong?
Every transaction has a reference and a clear status. From the app you'll be able to log a dispute, track it and request a callback. We aim for no dead ends: you'll always see what happened and what to do next.
How do I make a complaint?
Email complaints@sagemfb.com. If you're unhappy with our response, you can escalate to the Central Bank of Nigeria's consumer protection channels.
How is my data used?
See our privacy notice. In short: we collect only what we need, tell you why, and don't sell it.
Be first through the door.
